Maslow’s Kensington
Design-led AV integration for London’s newest private members’ house featuring top-notch Audio Systems
Tateside delivers a discreet networked AV solution that seamlessly supports coworking, wellness and hospitality with advanced Audio Systems at Maslow’s Kensington. Incorporating state-of-the-art Audio Systems, Maslow’s Kensington elevates the member experience through quality sound design. From sophisticated networking to seamless integration, the Audio Systems at Maslow’s Kensington redefine modern AV solutions. The advanced Audio Systems ensure that every space resonates with quality sound while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
When Maslow’s prepared to open its newest private members’ house in Kensington, the vision was clear: create another beautifully designed destination where work, wellbeing and hospitality exist in perfect balance. Having previously partnered with Maslow’s at Mortimer House and 1 Warwick, Tateside was appointed to design and deliver an integrated AV solution that would complement the building’s architecture while providing intuitive technology across every space.
From networked background audio and flexible presentation systems to BYOD meeting rooms and wellness studio sound, the result is an AV infrastructure with cutting-edge Audio Systems that enhances the member experience without ever dominating the design.

The Challenge
Maslow’s has established a reputation for creating premium members’ houses that combine luxury coworking spaces, boutique fitness facilities, wellness studios, dining and hospitality under one roof. Inspired by Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, each venue is carefully designed to encourage both productivity and personal wellbeing.
Members can enjoy a personalised experience thanks to the customised Audio Systems tailored for each area. The implementation of Audio Systems has been crucial for enhancing communication and collaboration. Jack Cornish highlighted how Audio Systems play a pivotal role in creating an immersive user experience.
For the new Kensington location, the challenge was to integrate sophisticated AV technology into one of the group’s most architecturally refined buildings. Every element needed to remain visually discreet while delivering exceptional performance across a variety of environments, including social spaces, presentation areas, meeting rooms, fitness studios and coworking zones.
He emphasised the importance of quality Audio Systems in maintaining the balance between functionality and design. Consistency was equally important. Members and staff already familiar with Maslow’s existing venues expected the same intuitive user experience throughout the new building.
The Solution
Tateside designed and installed a fully networked AV system built around the Q-SYS platform, providing centralised control and flexibility throughout the property. The solution combines high-quality background audio, wireless presentation technology, video conferencing and intuitive room control while preserving the carefully considered interior design. These Audio Systems simplify the experience for users, allowing for easy transitions between different activities.
Jack Cornish, Technical Director at Tateside, explains:
“The new Kensington location follows the same aesthetically focused principles as the other locations. We designed a fully networked background audio system throughout the social and wellness areas, along with BYOD setups in presentation spaces and meeting rooms. The goal was to deliver high-quality sound which remains discreet and easy to manage, supporting the different ways each space is used without compromising the building’s design-led feel.”

Flexible presentation spaces designed around architecture
The building’s open-plan Living Room serves as a bar, restaurant and event space, requiring technology capable of supporting presentations, networking events and day-to-day hospitality.
Tateside installed a discreet presentation system featuring an Epson laser projector, concealed in-ceiling projection screen, Airtame wireless presentation, Apple TV and video switching, all managed through a 5-inch Q-SYS touch panel. Staff can quickly switch between different room configurations using a straightforward control interface, making the space equally suited to informal dining or business presentations. Delivering this functionality required close collaboration with the project team due to the room’s exposed ceiling design and architectural raft features.
“The living room’s semi-exposed ceiling and architectural rafts meant delivering this functionality required extensive coordination and design, with every visual element carefully considered,” recalls Cornish. “The projection screen was concealed above the raft detail, while the projector was positioned between the rafts to minimise its visual impact.”
High-performance audio that disappears into the design
The Living Room audio system was engineered to provide even sound coverage without compromising the interior aesthetic. Martin Audio loudspeakers mounted on discreet drop rods deliver the primary coverage, while Sonance pendant speakers positioned between the ceiling rafts ensure consistent background audio throughout the space. Low-frequency performance presented a greater challenge due to limited floor space for conventional subwoofers.
To overcome this, Tateside specified 1 Sound floor subwoofers integrated into bespoke joinery, with two concealed inside retro-inspired furniture pieces and two hidden beneath a scalloped timber plinth. In every corner of Maslow’s, Audio Systems enhance the atmosphere, making it ideal for both work and relaxation.
“These are the kinds of details most people will never see, but they make all the difference,” explains Cornish. “The result is exactly what we wanted: a system that performs properly while visually disappearing into the space.”

Consistent presentation technology across the building
The Orangery provides a second presentation space and mirrors the same intuitive user experience as the Living Room. Whether staff are using the projector downstairs or the display upstairs, the controls remain familiar and consistent, reducing training requirements and ensuring every event runs smoothly.
BYOD meeting rooms designed for effortless collaboration
The commitment to premium Audio Systems reflects Maslow’s dedication to high-quality member experiences. Meeting rooms play a vital role within every Maslow’s location, making simplicity and flexibility essential.
Building on the successful user experience developed across previous sites, Tateside delivered nine fully integrated BYOD meeting rooms that allow members to connect instantly using their own laptops and preferred conferencing platforms.
Each room features a custom-branded Airtame welcome screen, with a single USB-C connection automatically switching the room into video conferencing mode. Cameras, microphones and loudspeakers are instantly routed to the user’s device, creating a seamless meeting experience without requiring complex room systems or additional training.
The integration of these Audio Systems establishes Maslow’s Kensington as a leader in modern workspace design. With every project, the emphasis on quality Audio Systems continues to drive their collaborative efforts. The evolution of the relationship between Tateside and Maslow’s has led to innovative Audio Systems that redefine member experience.
Jack Cornish explains:
“As a coworking space, BYOD capability is incredibly important. Rather than forcing users into a specific room system, the AV setup supports whatever they bring, giving members and visitors the freedom to run meetings through their own preferred platforms.”
The seamless integration of Audio Systems into the architectural vision is a testament to their innovative approach. Across the meeting suites, Tateside integrated Neat Bar 2 and Neat Bar Pro video conferencing systems alongside Ashton Bentley extenders, Airtame wireless presentation and automatic switching technology. Every room provides the same consistent interface, while iPad room booking panels simplify scheduling for both members and staff.

Audio tailored for wellness and fitness
Each detail of the Audio Systems was meticulously planned, ensuring they seamlessly fit into the overall design. Beyond the coworking environments, Tateside extended the networked audio system into Maslow’s wellness facilities, ensuring each space delivers an experience appropriate to its purpose.
Within the gym, Sonance pendant loudspeakers paired with an AUDAC compact architectural subwoofer provide energetic, impactful audio for workouts. In contrast, the yoga studio uses Sonance in-ceiling speakers to create a calmer, more balanced listening environment suited to instructor-led sessions.
Both spaces incorporate AUDAC NWP300 Dante Bluetooth wall plates, allowing instructors to connect their own devices quickly and easily, while Pragma SOMEO wall-mounted volume controls integrate directly with the Q-SYS platform for simple local adjustment.
Elsewhere in the building, including the pied-à-terre and adjoining coworking areas, Sonance pendant and in-ceiling loudspeakers provide subtle background music that maintains a consistent atmosphere throughout the venue.
Building on a trusted partnership
The integration of Audio Systems throughout Maslow’s Kensington creates an environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. Maslow’s Kensington represents the latest stage in an evolving relationship between Tateside and the Maslow’s team.
“We initially became involved with Maslow’s through smaller support works, but by building trust and understanding how they like to operate, that relationship has developed into something much more significant. Being trusted with the Kensington project was a real milestone for us.”
The architectural ambition of the project also made it one of Tateside’s most collaborative installations to date.
“It is one of the most beautifully designed workspaces we have worked on,” Cornish continues. “The client wanted every detail to be right, which meant a huge amount of coordination, design meetings and drawing reviews throughout the project. To see the finished space now, and to know how carefully the technology has been integrated into it, is something we are genuinely proud of.”

The Result
Maslow’s Kensington now benefits from a fully integrated commercial AV solution that supports every aspect of the member experience. Discreet networked audio enhances hospitality and wellness spaces, flexible presentation systems accommodate events of every scale, and intuitive BYOD meeting rooms allow members to collaborate using the technology they already know.
By combining thoughtful system design with carefully integrated technology, Tateside has delivered an AV solution that complements the building’s architecture while providing the flexibility, reliability and simplicity expected from one of London’s leading private members’ houses.
