RS no.9 Carnaby Flagship Store

The iconic AV experience

RS No.9 Carnaby is the first of its kind, bringing music and fashion together in the Rolling Stones’ world-first flagship retail experience. We were brought on board to deliver the AV experience.

Set in the hustle and bustle of Carnaby Street, Soho, the flagship store boasts impressive tech from the off. The main visuals within the store are the five, side-by-side, 85” Samsung screens in portraits, which play exclusive content such as archival footage from the band’s six-decade career.

Synchronising the AV

Content is kept in sync across all screens thanks to a Brightsign XD234 installed behind each monitor. Audio is returned into the system should the store wish to listen to this media. Content is updated annually to include scheduled takeovers such as partner activations or unique collaborations.

The store also features a bespoke T-shirt customisation station. Customers can choose from an array of exclusive designs on a touch-screen menu to create something unique. A dedicated clothing customisation PC is extended and displayed on an Ilyama 86” touchscreen for customers to interact with before sending their designs for print. We installed Brightsign as a secondary HDMI source that is responsible for playing other exclusive graphics.

British sound for British music legends

We opted for speakers from the British audio brand Bowers & Wilkins to play tracks from the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band. Three Bowers & Wilkins CT8.2 LCRs are above the staircase, blasting the band’s iconic hits across the shop floor. We hide two CTSW15 subwoofers behind the signage screens to provide 1000W of low-end extension down to 20Hz. A dedicated SA-1000 amplifier powers these.

Across the store, several Bowers & Wilkins AM1s, customised with the brand’s iconic big red tongue, are installed at a high level to distribute audio to customers. In some locations, speakers are clustered and mounted together using custom brackets we make to ensure optimal coverage.

The audio is processed using a Bose Professional ESP-880A and sent to several Bowers & Wilkins amplifiers, including the RMB-1575 and RKB-8100. The Bose volume controls are located back-of-house to control each zone. Audio is served into the system from a playlist hosted on Brightsign, which the team continually updates.

The AV experience within the store is a vital components of the customer journey, enhancing the experience for shoppers and fans of the legendary band. If shoppers in your store “can’t get no satisfaction”, contact us for a no-obligation chat about how AV can help you!
